Which type is right for me?

These are category descriptions, not a lab test and not medical advice. A model’s page is the only place a number counts, and only when that number has a source and a date.

Stretchy wrap

A long stretchy piece of fabric. Many people pre-tie it and keep it on. It is a common first wrap for a small baby, and the cloth can sag as the baby gets heavier. Use the weight limit on the model page, not this sentence.

Woven wrap

A woven cloth with little stretch. It is usually sized, and it takes longer to learn than a stretchy wrap. Makers often publish a higher weight range. We do not assume that until the model page says so.

Ring sling

Fabric threaded through rings, worn on one shoulder. Once the rings are understood it is quick to put on. One shoulder carries the weight.

Meh dai

A panel with long straps you tie, and no waist buckle. This catalogue does not have a pure meh dai yet. The closest records are half-buckles.

No checked model of this type is in the catalogue yet.

Half-buckle

A buckle waistband with wrap-style shoulder straps. Read the age line on each model. A half-buckle is not automatically suitable from birth, and a newborn search leaves out any record whose checked minimum is 1 month or later.

Soft-structured carrier

A padded panel with buckles. Waistbands differ. Waist-size ranges are not checked, so two carers of different sizes do not change the score.

Hip seat

A seat that sits on the hip. Where a maker says to keep an arm on the child, the newborn score treats it as not hands-free. Read that model’s hands-free line.

Type not yet checked

These records are in the catalogue, and the type cell was not verified. They are not ranked.

Let the finder narrow it

Pick a country, then leave the type on “Help me choose” or name the type you want. The points are explained on each result.

Step 1 of 4. About your baby.

About your baby

Weight is optional. “Help me choose” is a fine default.

Why these can stay open

Leave the weight blank if you do not know it. A weight outside 0.5–40 kg is ignored. The points for age, weight, and type are on How we rank.
